My husband had a ceramic bowl that he used to rise his homemade breads in that went the way of shattering on the floor after a slip of the hand. I searched and searched for something compatible and when it came down to the wire at Christmas, I purchased this. We have not been disappointed! It works great in a warm oven and with kneading and rising breads and it works well for mixing large batches of baked goods. It's sturdy and attractive. It cleans well, is dishwasher safe and seems for the most part scratch resistant. It's also gone into the microwave.

It is a nice looking bowl. But it has a rough outside bottom. You can do a lot of things as advertised. But, be careful not to scratch good looking surface of your counter/table.
