These bowls are beautiful and I was so excited to get to get them. It's really unfortunate, though, that only 8 of them arrived in good condition--the second biggest bowl had a weird black streak/smudge/drip on it (gross!) and a chipped edge... I was really excited to get these and now I have to return them :P Upon closer inspection I also noticed that another one also had some unidentifiable black-brownish smudge/drip on it (where the heck from?!). Also--I realized that these bowls don't indicate that they're microwave safe. So instead of exchanging these for the same set, I'm going with a different brand that is microwave safe.Overall I give the bowls a 4 because they're sturdy, good quality, and have a nice lip on the edge for extra gripping (handy if you're cooking and have slippery hands--not all the glass bowl nest sets have this). But, the packaging is only a 2 or 3, which is why my overall rating is 3.**Also, concerning the shape of these bowls--you can't tell by the ad but these bowls are not circular/round/hemispherical--they're slightly flower-pot-shaped.

This bowl set was received as a wedding gift, straight from our registry. Each bowl came package protected seperately, yet still nested in within the largest bowl and covered with tons of bubblewrap. Not one bowl was cracked or broken. Each bowl--even the largest--is lightweight enough for easy transportation, yet durable enough to withstand knicks/scrapes/etc. from metal utensils. As a chef, I highly reccommend these bowls for non-commercial use; the home cook (beginner or advanced) would find them to be a blessing. They will remain in my home kitchen for as long as they last, and I anticipate that being a long time.
