I had one and absolutely loved it, however, it was wet and a bit slippery and I dropped it on a vinyl floor and being melamine it shattered instantly. Can't bring myself to pay this much for something that breaks this easily, especially when it is an item being used in a working environment and near water.

Even though I have mixed feelings on Rachael Ray, I like a lot of her tools for the kitchen. In this case, I love the orange garbage bowl. (The mixed feelings come from a hilarious discussion my mom and I had once about my dad, who adored Rachael Ray's cheery demeanor and her seemingly effortless ability to produce an endless stream of hearty meals in a mere 30 minutes on television. Dad watched her every day. He wasn't on KP, ever, so you see the source of the irritation.)Anyway, back to the bowl. This is a light, melamine bowl that holds just shy of a gallon of material. I always use a garbage bowl myself, because I compost my vegetable scraps, and since I like vegetables and vegetable juice, I have a lot of those scraps. Normally, I was throwing my scraps into a ceramic bowl that really was an extra bread rising bowl but ceramic is heavy and there is a risk of dropping it on the way down to the cellar, which is how I get to the compost bin outside. So I really didn't like going down the stairs with a slippery ceramic bowl. Then I was transferring the scraps to a small bucket, but I had to wash out the bucket AND the bowl. Ok, I caved and bought Rachael's garbage bowl. It has a nice rim, so it is easy to carry downstairs. And it is light, of course, lighter than ceramic. And it is cheery, because it's in one of those neon-bright colors that Ms. Ray seems to favor in a world where gray, white and black seem to be permanently stylish. My counters are a depressing slate color, the kitchen is white. The older I get, the more I realize a steel-gray world can be depressing. A pop of color is fun. So is this bowl. I might want a purple one, even.Very handy, does the job, and fun to look at. Please note that this bowl, despite being plastic, will break if you drop it, because melamine is a rigid plastic, not a soft, flexible material. So you might want a second one if you have very hard floors.
