Created by tableware designer and gourmet chef Debbie Segura in 2001, Sorrento is perhaps Signature Houseware's most popular dinnerware pattern. Sorrento stoneware suits almost any kitchen décor with its rustic, Italian countryside feel, showing a raised dot and olive leaf patterning on most of the solid-colored, thickly-glazed pieces. Square plates are also available, and bakeware and glassware complete the extensive collection, now available in more than half a dozen colors ranging from neutral suede to bright ruby red. The largest of three nesting Sorrento mixing bowls, this one measures 10 inches in diameter and holds up to 120 ounces, or nearly four quarts, ideal for mixing a batch of cookies or serving a party-sized tossed green salad. All three mixing bowls feature a different exterior pattern. The rim band on the large bowl, which helps provides grip, is embossed with an almost floral-like olive leaf motif, while vertical bands of raised lines and dots decorate the sides. Alone or with the two smaller mixing bowls, this attractive and functional bowl makes a great gift for someone who is building a Sorrento collection. slightly annoyed
I bought this bowl in ivory for my mom. It's pretty, etc., but to call it a "Large Mixing Bowl" is misleading. The bowl is considerably smaller than my own (much cheaper) large Pyrex bowl. When I opened the package, I was sure there had been a mistake with the bowl size, but when I checked, yes, this bowl is only supposed to be 10 inches across, and it's only about 5 inches high! Seriously, just 5 inches! I realize it's my own fault for not thoroughly checking the product specs, but I guess I thought large meant large. If you want a medium sized bowl (perhaps for mixing frosting as opposed to cake batter) the bowl would be okay.

I purchased this bowl because I needed an oven safe bowl in order to bake a round cake. It's very useful, heavy duty, and beautiful. I would buy more in smaller sizes to make a set. Love it.
