I am so pleased with this bowl that I am about to order a second one. The size is about perfect for mixing dough by hand. The glass is heavy, but not too heavy. It is heavier than a comparable metal bowl which is prone to scratching, and it is lighter than a comparable earthenware bowl, which is prone to hairline scratches. I was unsure about the offset around the rim, but I find it makes it easier to grab onto the bowl, lessening the chances of dropping. I'm ordering a second because glass, being glass, is always subject to those unfortunate accidents where breakage happens. And, althought a double sized recipe of buttermilk biscuit dough will fit inside nicely, it is easier to work the single sized recipe (12 biscuits) than the double size. So, if I want to make a double batch, I need two bowls.... I may even get two more!
