My love affair with egg cups started when I read Bread and Jam for Frances (I Can Read Book 2) as a little kid. In it, there is an illustration with Frances, Gloria, Mother and Father seated at the breakfast table with an egg cup in front of each one.The book read: "It was breakfast time, and everyone was at the table. Father was eating his egg. Mother was eating her egg. Gloria was sitting in a high chair and eating her egg too. Frances was eating bread and jam. 'What a lovely egg!' said Father. 'If there is one thing I am fond of for breakfast, it is a soft-boiled egg.' 'Yes,' said Mother, spooning up egg for the baby, 'it is just the thing to start the day off right.'"Spooning egg right out of the shell! I wanted to do that.Some thirty years later, I got my wish. And I am happy to report egg cups are every bit as fun as I remember thinking they should be.This particular set is just gorgeous. The cups are big enough for extra large eggs, but not so big that smaller eggs fall out of them. I love the color. There is just something about white porcelain that makes eggs seem elegant. I also love how easy they are to clean.In fact, I love this set so much I even blogged about it (and re-purposed part of my blog post for this review). Soft-boiled eggs rule! Okay - these things work so well, I simply cannot imagine how I could improve them. They stand up to constant use, including being dropped off of kitchen counters, washed multiple times in the dishwasher, and they have yet to be broken, or even chipped! Not only that, but they're elegant, too - made from real porcelain. If only everything were this good!

Works great for small-medium sized eggs. I don't buy the really big eggs, and think this would be a bit snug for a huge egg... For what I buy, this is ideal. The porcelain keeps the egg warm, and the cups are very easy to clean. They have survived several accidental drops to the floor without chipping or breaking, and make a nice presentation on a breakfast plate. Soft-medium boiled eggs are easy to manage in these cups. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, along with a set of egg spoons and an egg topper.
